but it gives a good overview of BAs responsibilities and useful advices
The “business Analyst’s mentor book” is a down to earth book that contains 27 short chapters full of examples, analogies and inspiring quotes. It covers most of the relevant topics for BAs in all the phases of the Software Development Life CycleThe book doesn’t go in detail in any of the topics, but it gives a good overview of BAs responsibilities and useful advices, specially in managing requests from Business Units.

Useful for new BA's
Some bits are a bit vague and based on generalisations. Claims that a BA role is a stepping stone to becoming a Project Manager but the BA must get 8 years experience first. Where's the science in this and why is a BA role a stepping stone to PM. They are two distinct roles with their own career paths. This is just one example of the general sweeping statements made in the book with no evidence to back it up which initially got me frustrated. However after a full read I actually found a lot of the chapters fairly interesting. It's a light book which can be read quickly and easily, I imagine it would be very helpful to those just starting out on their careers.

There are better books for budding BAs
This book isn't as good as I had hoped it would be. The concept on a book that acts as a mentor to business analysts is a good one but the execution and the material is poor. The layout of the book makes it easy to read but its content is too broad and too superficial to be of much use to anyone already involved in business analysis.I also found myself reading through line after line of grammatical errors which diminished the credibility of the content and made it at times a difficult to read (some editing and some proof-reading would have resolved this problem). The author also over did the number of quotes by Albert Einstein and others; quotes that added nothing further to the narratives.

Short and Precise
useful for all the beginner and intermediate business analyst professionals. Short and precise, and very clear. Would have been great if more examples are included. But as for the cost, it's worth the price

Outstanding primer for BAs
This is an amazing book to guide and help new or developing BAs and also help shape the dynamic of the PM BA relationship on projects. I can tell it is written from a strong project organization, so there are points and areas that need to be read from the typical strong PMI lens if you want to apply the tips to an agile organization. Overall, great read. It has about 20 sections/topics that are written on for 3-5 pages each.
