Bought this to work with an old Makita saw
I bought an old Makita saw from someone who was selling it because the 18V nimh battery that came with it was bad (i even told the guy what I was going to do with his "scrap" saw). I have a bunch of LXT batteries and tools so I figured this would be great; so I now have a super portable Makita miter saw for less than $50! Works great.

useful hack - now I can use my old makita circular saw with newer batteries
so this meets a very narrow problem - I have an old makita circular saw with two old 18V NiCad batteries that hold only a few minutes of charge.... with this handy adapter I can now use any of my 18LXT Li batteries to power the saw! the old saw works great!

With alteration it fit
I bought this so I can use an old but in good condition makita 6333, my old batteries were dead. It didn't fit at first. I lightly altered both the drill and locking tabs on adapter. Now it works well and stays together.

It gave a new lease on life to my 30 year old cordless 8.5 sliding miter saw
It seems to work fine.It gave a new lease on life to my 30 year old cordless 8.5 sliding miter saw.Somehow I feel it goes slower with the 5 AH battery than the old 2.6 AH, but cuts fine.It doesn't fit some of my old Makita tools, but the miter saw fits just fine. That's a win in my book

Works great
I bought it for a 7-1/2” makita 18V pod style battery. Worked great. Even fit on the 18V recip saw I had. Made my obsolete tools work again.

Functions 100% on 18v ni-cad Makita set
Electric works perfectly upon connecting to modern battery and inserted into my ancient originally ni-cad 18v set. It doesn’t perfectly occupy exact same space as original battery (see photos) but not horrible and I hadn’t bothered to 100% check whether my model is listed for this product so didn’t ding the star rating for this cosmetic glitch. It does add considerable height vs original battery (photo). All in all it is probably better to tear old battery pack apart, update with Li-ion cells, do the battery welding, adding BMS system, etc, etc but that’s significant effort though much cheaper (especially if you also need to buy modern Makita batteries to use with this adapter) while this just works.

Does what I wanted it to do
I had recently bought a used Makita 5620D saw for $10 used, and in decent shape, however it didn't have a battery, which is why it was $10. I needed a battery and was not spending over $100 for a battery and another $50+ on a charger. This was something I had considered and after doing some research, found this can fit the Makita 5620D skill saw, and I can get newer batteries and chargers both under $100, so this and a new battery and charger allowed me to actually use it and pretty happy with it.Doesn't exactly fit the slot entirely around the edges but it hooks up as it should, latches and such, and that is all that matters.First image the adapter is on the far left, and the right is with the adapter plugged in with the newer battery.
